New Selectboard member sworn in, board reorganizes

LEYDEN — Newly elected Selectboard member Erica Jensen was sworn in during a board meeting last week.

Jensen, who ran unopposed, was elected to complete a one-year term, filling a vacancy left by former member Lance Fritz, who resigned last summer. She received 140 votes in her favor out of the 170 ballots cast in the June 28 election, while 20 ballots had the Selectboard slot left blank.

Following her swearing in, the Selectboard reorganized. Member Jeffrey Neipp was appointed as chair, taking over from member Bill Glabach, who had held the role for the past year. Jensen was appointed as vice chair.

The Selectboard also appointed its members as liaisons to public safety departments. Jensen was appointed liaison to the Police Department, Glabach as liaison to the Fire Department and Neipp as liaison to the Highway Department.

Local Rapid Recovery Plan grant process seeks resident input

NORTHFIELD — The town is asking residents to complete a survey to provide their input regarding the town’s Local Rapid Recovery Plan grant process.

This grant is an opportunity to develop actionable projects to help the community economically recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. In April, Main Street businesses and organizations were asked their opinions about how to revitalize Northfield’s business district. Now, through the survey, residents can suggest ways to make the town center more functional for residents and attractive to visitors.

The survey can be found at surveymonkey.com/r/R3NQKS6. Responses must be submitted by Thursday, July 15.
