SHUTESBURY — Ballot candidate Eric Stocker prevailed over write-in candidate Don Wakoluk to claim an open seat on the Selectboard in Saturday’s town election.
Stocker, who received 201 votes to Wakoluk’s 92, will replace Selectboard member J. April Stein, who served two terms and did not run for re-election. Stocker previously served on the Selectboard in 2009, and is a longtime Finance Committee member and chair.
According to Town Clerk Grace Bannasch, 308 ballots were cast. There are 1,492 registered voters in town, making for a nearly 21 percent voter turnout. Polls were open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Hall on Saturday.
The only other contested race on the ballot, a three-way race for two seats on the Board of Health, saw incumbent Arleen Read and Wm Levine elected, with 248 votes and 136 votes, respectively.
Results for the remaining uncontested races are as follows:
■Cemetery Commission, two seats with three-year terms — Susan Millinger and Dina Stander
■M.N. Spear Memorial Library trustees, two seats with three-year terms —incumbent Kate Cell and Timothy Logan
■Broadband Committee/Municipal Light Plant, two seats with three-year terms — incumbent Stephen Schmidt and Graeme Sephton
■Planning Board, three-year term — Nathan Murphy
■School Committee, two seats with three-year terms — incumbent Jennifer Malcolm-Brown and Bethany Rose
