Matt Murray wants another round.

The UMass hockey team’s senior goalie will use his extra year of eligibility and return to the Minutemen for the 2021-22 season, the team announced Monday.

Murray is UMass’ all-time leader with 52 wins. The St. Albert, Alberta, native set the mark against New Hampshire in January. He also has the most shutouts at UMass with 11. Murray ranks second in program history with a 2.2 goals against average and third with a .916 save percentage.

He led the Minutemen to the national championship game in April, defeating Minnesota-Duluth in overtime after stepping in for junior Filip Lindberg, who missed the semifinal due to COVID-19 protocols.

Last season, Murray was 11th in the country in goals against average (1.97) and posted three shutouts.
