CONWAY — A father and two young sons were injured in a traffic accident Saturday night. All three were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
At about 10 p.m. Saturday night, a pickup truck driving in the area of 1720 Whately Road went off the road and hit a tree head-on, said Conway Fire Chief Robert Baker.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, Baker said.
The two passengers were a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy, and the driver was their father.
Identifying information of the three persons, such as their names or place of residence, could not be released, Baker said.
The younger of the two boys, who is 10, was temporarily trapped in the damaged vehicle, and had to be freed using extrication tools.
His injuries were considered more severe than the other two, and he was transported to the Springfield hospital by helicopter, while the other two were transported by ambulance.
The full extent and severity of their injuries could not be determined immediately, though it was clear that the younger boy’s injuries were worse, Baker said.
