WENDELL — This year’s May 3 town election features no contested races, and two Wendell School Committee seats for which there are no candidates on the ballot.

Polls will be open from noon to 7 p.m. at the Town Offices.

According to information in the town newsletter, the polls will be arranged so that no more than two voters are in the room at the same time, and the path to the voting booth will be marked with tape on the floor. The building’s entrance and exit will be monitored by the constable and/or election warden. Voters are encouraged to bring their own pens or pencils and gloves.

Masks must be worn at all times inside the building and the 6-foot social distancing rule will be enforced between poll workers and voters. Voting booths will reportedly be disinfected after every use, and single-use pencils will be dropped into a container at the checkout table.

Selectboard member Laurie DiDonato is seeking re-election for another three-year term, while Martha Senn is running for a three-year seat as an assessor.

Town Clerk Anna Wetherby hopes to win a two-year term to continue in the role. The Selectboard voted for Wetherby to replace Gretchen Smith, who stepped down from her position on Nov. 28 after 12 years, citing “health issues that make it impossible for me to keep up with it anymore.”

Barbara Craddock and Shay Cooper are running to retain the Board of Health seats they currently hold. Mara Bright and Jess Mynes are seeking positions as library trustees.

Also, Florence Blackbird is running to fill a three-year vacancy as a cemetery commissioner; Christopher Parker is seeking re-election to a five-year seat on the Planning Board; Kathleen Nolan is running for another one-year stint as moderator; Michael Gifford is seeking re-election to a three-year term as a road commissioner; and Clifford Dornbusch is running for another one-year term as tree warden.

There are also two available seats on the Wendell School Committee for which there are no candidates on the ballot. The positions may still be won through write-in votes.
