It started with 30 snowmen, which snowballed into 50, and then 70.

The Phaneuf family’s house in Hatfield is hard to miss these days. Their front lawn is covered in snowmen of all different sizes made by Weston, 7, Brody, 9, Lennon, 5, and Harper, 11, and their parents, Matt and Jessica.

They started building the snowmen about a week and a half ago, Matt Phaneuf said while standing on his front porch Thursday.

“We’re just trying to get our kids out of the house,” he said, noting that with remote learning, there’s been a lot of screen time for his children.

After sitting in the sun, some of the snowmen are a bit melted and more like “snow zombies,” he conceded.

Phaneuf has seen people stop outside the front of the house to take some photos.

“It’s made people smile,” he said.

Neighbors have helped pitch in, giving them hats and scarves for the snowmen.

The family might make more and try to up their snowmen count to 100, Phaneuf said, but “I think they’re a little over it now.”
