GREENFIELD — The state Registry of Motor Vehicles has further extended its Wednesday appointment hours for customers ages 75 years old and up through November and December.
According to an RMV press release, special hours are held on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for older residents whose driver’s license or ID card expired in September or expires in October, November or December, including those whose license or ID was extended earlier this year and has since expired.
Only two customer service stations are open inside the Greenfield RMV on Miner Street to allow for social distancing.
“The new service is being offered to provide customers with some flexibility while conducting transactions, and also to facilitate proper social distancing protocols and procedures to keep customers and staff safe and healthy,” RMV spokesperson Judith Riley said in the statement regarding the special hours.

Below are the options for seniors to renew, by appointment only:
■AAA members can make a reservation to renew their driver’s license/ID at a AAA location. Call 413-785-1381 or visit aaa.com/appointments to schedule a visit.
■Non-AAA members need to make a reservation with the RMV either online at mass.gov/RMV, by phone at 857-368-8005 or by emailing massdotrmvseniors@dot.state.ma.us
Riley said the RMV recommends that all customers get ready online before their appointment by following prompts to verify their identity and start the transaction. Customers are encouraged to complete more than 40 other transactions that are available online, by mail or by phone.
