CONWAY — The annual Rag Shag Parade and the costume contest at the Town Offices have been canceled this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Those are two awesome civic events that I look forward to every year,” said Selectboard member Phil Kantor.
The parade, held on Halloween, is organized by the Conway Firemen’s Auxiliary.
“The majority of the members are women of advanced age who did not feel comfortable putting the time and effort into that this year, which I totally understand,” explained Selectboard member Erica Goleman.
As for trick-or-treating, the Selectboard is allowing trick-or-treating in town. Board members advise families who plan to trick-or-treat to follow guidance from the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which includes wearing a mask and staying 6 feet away from others.
