SOUTH DEERFIELD — Volvo Cars Pioneer Valley will have its last day in town on Monday before moving to its new location in Northampton.
The dealership at 253 Greenfield Road is moving to 48 Damon Road in Northampton come Tuesday. The move is expected to offer its customers greater convenience and an expanded inventory, according to owners.
“It was important to us that we were near to the (Interstate) 91 interchange and the rest of our dealers in our dealership group,” said co-owner Carla Cosenzi.
TommyCar Auto Group, which Volvo Cars Pioneer Valley is part of, has three other dealerships in Northampton — Country Hyundai, Genesis of Northampton and Northampton Volkswagen — and a Country Nissan dealership in Hadley.
Cosenzi said the intention was always to relocate from its South Deerfield location, where it has been for two years, to Northampton. There will be no break in service for customers.
“We love the city of Northampton, and we’re hoping to grow our footprint here,” she said.
During the pandemic, Cosenzi said Volvo Cars Pioneer Valley has been following all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention procedures. Masks and social distancing are enforced, and sanitization practices are in place, especially for high-touch surface areas.
Additionally, the dealership is encouraging customers to take advantage of its valet service, in which staff pick up and return a customer’s vehicle for service.
“We’re also doing a complimentary sanitization of customers’ vehicles that are in for service,” she said. That includes sanitizing keys.
“If you don’t feel comfortable coming into the dealership, there’s really no need to do so at this point,” she said. “We’re happy to consult online, through video chat.”
