LEYDEN — Repairs to the bridge on Simon Keets Road, which has been limited to one lane of traffic since the summer of 2017, have been completed, making the bridge fully open to traffic again.
NORTHFIELD — The Selectboard approved hiring Jeremy O’Connell as an EMT with the Northfield EMS department during its most recent meeting.
O’Connell, a Clinton resident, said he has been an EMT for more than 10 year and is currently taking classes to become a paramedic.
NORTHFIELD — For residents who need to leave a document, application, plans, etc. for an office in Town Hall, but can’t get there during office hours, a larger locked dropbox is available at the back entrance to Town Hall.
BERNARDSTON — The Selectboard voted in its most recent meeting to reappoint Hayley Bolton as the town’s Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) representative for a term of one year.
Bolton is also director of the Bernardston Senior Center and Council on Aging.
BERNARDSTON — By order of the Selectboard, Transfer Station trash bags now cost $2.50 each, or $25 for a bundle of 10.
Pop-up food pantry set for Aug. 26
BERNARDSTON — The Senior Center will hold another pop-up food pantry for senior residents at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Those interested in receiving food must call 413-834-7200 to sign up ahead of each pantry date. Delivery will be available for seniors who need and request it.
Those who want to donate food can call the same number to make arrangements.
BERNARDSTON — The Senior Center has now served more than 2,500 people through its drive-thru meal program.
The meals are distributed Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Senior Center parking lot. A donation of $3 is appreciated.
Seniors are asked to sign up by calling 413-834-7200 by 9 a.m. on the day before a meal pick-up, and they may also order ahead for multiple days at a time. Free delivery is also available.
BERNARDSTON — Snack Pack, a band playing hippie rock, roots country and parlor jazz, will perform at Zeke’s Bar & Grill, at 87 Parmenter Road, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22. There is no cover charge.
Hazardous Waste Collection Day

According to an announcement from the Franklin County Solid Waste Management District, registration information for residents who signed up for the Sept. 26 Hazardous Waste Collection Day between Aug. 11 and Aug. 17 has been lost. Residents are advised that they must register again.
