James Lund’s catch of the weekend was good enough for the top spot in the 11th Annual Last Call Catfish Derby.

The Greenfield resident hauled in the winning fish, which measured in at 14.9 pounds, for the one-night event that took place from 7 p.m. on Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday. Pipione’s Sport Shop in Turners Falls sold 33 tickets for the annual event, which raised $265 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters at the United Way.

First prize took home $150, while second place won $75 and third place claimed $40.

Edward Brozo of Bernardston was the runner-up, taking home a fish that weighed in at 11.6 pounds. Greenfield’s Kyle Wilder was third at 10.6 pounds, followed by Gill’s Cam Tucker (fourth, 9.5 pounds), Greenfield’s Guy Kellum Jr. (fifth, 9.12) and Royalston’s A.J. Shackett (sixth, 8.8).

Nichole Glabach of Leyden was the first person to submit a fish for weighing. Her first catch of 1.13 pounds was quickly followed by a second at 2.9 pounds in her first-ever catfish outing. In addition to his fourth-place fish, Tucker weighed in a second fish at 6.15 pounds.

The derby organizers would like to thank Rich at Pipione’s for promoting and donating to the event and to the Turners Falls Rod and Gun Club for hosting.
