About two weeks ago I was at Foster’s Market, and saw a young couple and their toddler shopping in the same row as I was. None of them were wearing masks. When I pointed out to them that a sign near the front of the store requires that masks be worn, they walked away while insisting that they didn’t know what I was talking about.
Once informed of the situation, a store manager promised me he’d speak to the shoppers in question. Although I don’t know what he said to them, it couldn’t have been much, as they were allowed to continue shopping. Up and down the aisles they strolled, careful to include all departments in a family-style germ application. No further action was taken, and the couple checked out, spared any apparent interest by employees.
Why Foster’s declined to enforce their own rule is mystifying. The lesson to be learned, however, is simple: If you want a conveniently located store with quality seafood, go to Foster’s. But if you want protection from a killer virus, go anywhere else.
P.S. If anyone at Foster’s wants to round up missing carts, look to our unmasked bandits, as they were last seen pushing theirs down Elm Street…
