GREENFIELD — Greenfield Savings Bank is opening an ATM just east of the Interstate 91 rotary on July 23.

Denise Coyne, the institution’s chief operating officer, said the bank is renting space in the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar parking lot at 141 Mohawk Trail from property owner Terry Kimball. The decision was made last summer after Kimball approached the bank with the idea, and construction was completed at the end of the year.

Coyne said the unit is delivered in two pieces — the kiosk and the ATM. However, the kiosk’s delivery from the western part of the United States was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re excited that it’s finally there,” Coyne said.

She said this expands service to more customers. She also said this ATM will be able to accept cash and check deposits as well as dispense cash. There is a row of parking spaces adjacent to the unit.

Coyne, who has worked for the bank for 42 years and has been COO for about 10, said this will be the bank’s seventh ATM in Greenfield. There are three drive-up ATMs with live teller interaction at the bank at 400 Main St., two inside the building and the “tree stump ATM” in the parking lot of the Big Y plaza.

“It’s very popular,” Coyne said of the tree stump ATM. “So we thought we would have one on the other side (of the Interstate 91 rotary) as well.”
