SPRINGFIELD — Steve Winn has taken over as president and CEO of the Behavioral Health Network (BHN) from Katherine Wilson, who retired on June 30.

Headquartered in Springfield, BHN has been providing behavioral health services to children and families throughout Western Massachusetts since 1938. It includes the Northern Hope Center and Franklin Recovery Center on Federal Street on the former Lunt Silversmith property in Greenfield.

According to a BHN press release, the organization’s board of directors selected Winn, previously the chief operating officer, to succeed Wilson back in February.

“The opportunity to lead the dedicated staff at BHN is especially gratifying,” Winn said. “They are remarkable in their commitment to BHN’s mission of helping individuals, families and communities improve the quality of life for those with behavioral and developmental challenges. We will continue to develop and deliver high-quality, team-based, integrated services and supports to those we serve.”

Winn joined BHN in 1995 as vice president and director of the Child Guidance Clinic, the release states. He was later promoted to senior vice president, and has served as chief operating officer since 2017.

Prior to starting at BHN, Winn earned a master’s degree in developmental psychology and a doctorate in clinical and developmental psychology, both from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The release states Winn went on to complete his fellowship at Yale University’s Child Study Center. Additionally, he was previously a staff psychologist at the University of New Mexico Children’s Psychiatric Hospital, where he also taught in the Department of Psychiatry.
