Thank you for Mary Bryne’s good article and coverage of the June 30 Conway election (“Incumbent challenged for Selectboard seat,” June 27). I believe John O’Rourke’s own words show me why I planned to support Erica Goleman. He says he’s been on the Selectboard for nine years (three terms). Well, what was true for the town in 2011 is very different today. Our town leadership needs new voices, different perspectives and the kind of balanced representation that Erica Goleman would bring.
I am still upset that Mr. O’Rourke’s article against the Safe Community Bylaw was placed upon every seat at the May Town Meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to debate and decide, not brow-beat citizens to follow one person’s opinion. Indeed, the citizens passed the bylaw and still Mr. O’Rourke stands against what the people decided (Connecting Point interview, WGBY, June 7, 2018). This is why we need Erica Goleman.
