BERNARDSTON — Two Vermont residents were pulled over on I-91 Friday night, then arrested when police found large amounts of heroin and cocaine in the car, along with a digital scale and a machete knife, according to State Police.

Around 9 p.m. Friday, State Police troopers observed a black Jeep speeding on Route 91 northbound. The Jeep had a temporary license plate that police said was unreadable, police said.

When stopped, police found that the driver, Kwesi Wilson, 35, of Londonberry, Vt., had a suspended license. The passenger, Ashley Blanchard, 27, of Holly Mountain, Vt., was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

The troopers then searched the car and found about 100 grams of white powder that appeared to be crack cocaine, and 200 baggies identified as heroin, according to State Police.

Wilson and Blanchard were arrested, and are now being held at Franklin County Jail, pending arraignment.

State Police charged Wilson with with trafficking in cocaine; possession with intent to distribute heroin; conspiracy to violate drug laws; possession of a dangerous weapon; failure to wear seat belt; operating a motor vehicle with license suspended; speeding; unregistered motor vehicle; equipment violation.

Blancahrd was charged with trafficking in cocaine; possession with intent to distribute heroin; conspiracy to violate drug laws; possession of a dangerous weapon; failure to wear seat belt.
