CONWAY — In a landslide victory, newcomer Erica Goleman won the seat for a three-year term on the Selectboard in Tuesday’s election, overcoming incumbent John O’Rourke by about 250 votes.

“I’m looking forward to the job,” Goleman said. “And I hope to serve with transparency, openness and kindness, and I hope that everyone finds that I’m approachable and here to serve the best interests of the town.”

Goleman received 357 votes in Tuesday’s annual town election compared to O’Rourke’s 104.

Goleman said she received word of the results early Wednesday morning.

“I fell asleep before the results came in (Tuesday night), and I woke up to a slew of texts,” she said. “I’m still processing.”

The election took place at Town Hall. There were 462 ballots cast out of 1,244 total registered voters, according to Town Clerk Laurie Lucier, making for a 37 percent voter turnout. Of those, 98 were absentee ballots.

Voters also ratified a Town Meeting vote on June 20 that authorized the treasurer/collector to borrow up to $200,000 to partially make up for any fiscal year 2021 revenue deficit, if needed, after the use of free cash and general stabilization appropriation.
