To all the new graduates, those who moved up a grade and those who have been out of school for a few years, I have a few questions for you. How many of you can write your name, tell time, make change or read a book? It seems that some educators believe that these simple tasks are no longer needed.

As a parent and grandparent I do not like the poor education our children are getting. The amount of our tax money spent on education and the quality of education it should provide, is not there. Schools have become daycare facilities and poor ones at that.

It is time for all students and former students to step up and let the school administration know they are not happy with the education they have gotten or are receiving. Please attend your home Town Meeting and voice your opinion. In the paper, a girl launched a blog to connect teens. We need something like this to show that students want a better education.

I have a friend that is a professor at a technical college teaching engineering. He was told by the administration to do whatever it takes to pass all of his students. Is this what “no child left behind” means? Let’s put discipline back in the home, school, and military.
