Real estate tax deadline is June 29

GREENFIELD — The city’s deadline of June 29 for paying fourth quarter real estate taxes is approaching, having been extended from May 1 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents are advised that tax payments must be received at City Hall (not postmarked) by June 29 to avoid any late fees or penalties, according to a press release from the Mayor’s Office. In addition, payments received after June 29 will include interest and fees that go back to May 2 (the day after the original due date).

Options for paying real estate taxes include:

■Making a payment online via Greenfield’s Online Payment Center at bit.ly/2V6xMXV

■Submitting your payment via the dropbox located on the front door of City Hall

■Visiting City Hall to make a payment during limited office hours (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Those opting to pay in person must enter City Hall by the side door, near the accessibility ramp. If capacity for City Hall is reached, visitors will be asked to wait outside

According to the release, all visitors must sign in at the door, use hand sanitizer upon entry, and wear a face covering while in the building. Face coverings will be available for visitors who don’t have them. Additionally, all visitors will be asked to stay 6 feet apart.
