ORANGE — An Orange police officer and his family worked to secure 400 donated face masks from a Korean-American association to dispense to community members in need.
Jungfil Seo, who joined the department three years ago, and his family provided the masks to give back to the North Quabbin community, their adopted home. The Seo (pronounced ‘Sow’) family hails from South Korea.
Orange Police Chief James Sullivan said his officers will keep the masks in their cruisers and hand them out to anyone who needs one. Some masks are available at the Orange Police Department.
“This family wanted to make sure (masks) got out to people that needed them,” Sullivan said. “It was very nice of them, the family. They’re super-nice people.”
Attempts to reach Seo were unsuccessful, as he works the overnight shift. Sullivan said Seo, who graduated from Ralph C. Mahar Regional School, and his family moved to Orange when the future officer was a child.
“He’s a fantastic officer and he’s just a pleasure to have around the building with us,” the chief said.
Sullivan also mentioned Seo brought some masks to the Athol Police Department so its members could pass them out to community members there.
