“Breathe Free” is on my lawn sign to say that Greenfield is a safe city for the undocumented, that cops won’t work with ICE here. The truth is there is no safe city for black and brown people. They cannot breathe free anywhere in this country. A country that built its world dominance with the free labor of kidnapped Africans. A country that has looted for 400 years. None of us can breathe free when law enforcement continues to asphyxiate and terrorize people. Until everyone can breathe, we can’t breathe.
