COLRAIN — A head-on collision on Greenfield Road on Sunday sent two people to nearby hospitals and caused the road to be closed for about two hours.
The incident was reported by a walk-in to the Colrain Fire Station at 12:17 p.m., and by multiple 911 calls, according to a post on the Colrain Firefighters’ Association’s Facebook page.
The two people injured were both in the same vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle refused medical treatment after briefly being checked by first responders, according to Colrain Fire Chief Nicholas Anzuoni.
Of the two injured people, the one with more serious injuries was airlifted to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, from a landing point set up at the Colrain Fire Station, Anzuoni said.
The other was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield by the Colrain Fire Department, Anzuoni said.
Greenfield Road remained closed until about 2 p.m., Anzuoni said.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at least one citation was issued as a result of the accident.
