I think if the four cops who killed George Floyd had been immediately arrested, there would have been limited protests because people would see that there was some intent for justice. But by putting them on paid administrative leave, it was obvious that there was an intent to avoid justice. Other people are arrested when there is the appearance of a crime. If it had been somehow shown that the cops were innocent, they could always have been released and given back pay. But this is the way it is with such killings. That is why so many people across the nation protested and are still protesting.

Instead of seeing one bad cop, people saw a bad system. And this was not the first time, but this was so blatant and obvious that no one could deny it. That is why many thousands of white people joined the protests. Before cell phone cameras, much injustice routinely occurred but was covered up. Now everyone can see it. Thanks to the brave bystanders who documented the murder.
