The Rev. Phill Grant, and others who protest that their “rights” have been so severely curtailed by the social distancing orders of COVID-19, appear to be acutely aware of their “rights” but willfully oblivious to the “responsibilities” to the larger social structure that are part and parcel with those rights.
It is doubly concerning that Rev. Grant uses his religious imprimatur to give added weight to his rant. Would Jesus tell his followers to ignore the risk they impose on the staff of the hospitals and other medical facilities who are directly exposed by such self-centered behavior ? Would Jesus advise his followers that disregard for workers in grocery and other stores, meat processing plants and other “essential services” is OK as long they themselves accept him as their personal savior?
I seriously doubt that Rev. Grant speaks words Jesus would have him speak in truth and love.
