LEYDEN — Beth Kuzdeba, the town’s Franklin Regional Council of Governments liaison, reported to the Board of Health on April 27 that there are no positive COVID-19 cases in Leyden.
Signs have been placed at town buildings, stating that a face covering should be used when inside.
During the meeting, the Board of Health also discussed updates regarding retreats and gatherings in Leyden during the pandemic. All retreats and bed and breakfasts are canceled or closed as they are considered non-essential businesses. Bed and breakfasts may only operate if they are boarding emergency workers or individuals who need to quarantine.
Even if Gov. Charlie Baker relaxes the closure of non-essential businesses, the centers would need to stay closed if Leyden’s Selectboard continues the town’s state of emergency.
NORTHFIELD — The Selectboard met briefly with Board of Health Chair Bob MacEwen this week to discuss health safety guidelines.
While MacEwen and the Selectboard said they could not “require” residents to wear a mask or face covering, they recommend residents wear masks in public or inside businesses. Selectboard member Heath Cummings said it could be left up to individual business owners to implement a requirement to wear a mask inside their stores.
