GREENFIELD — The city is waiving fees and penalties for late payments of fourth quarter real estate taxes, currently due May 1, until June 29.
If the bill is paid on June 30, or after, it is paid too late for the waiver to apply. The waiver also does not apply to real estate tax bills issued prior to March 10, according to a press release from Mayor Roxann Wedegartner.
Wedegartner encourages those who are able to pay their taxes by May 1 to do so to ensure that the city’s cash flows remain healthy and able to cover essential services.
“I fully understand that there are many residents here who live paycheck-to-paycheck and have been caught by surprise in this unprecedented and challenging time,” she said. “We are providing this one-time relief in the best way we can in order to provide some temporary assistance to those people hit hardest by this pandemic.”
GREENFIELD — In celebration of World Labyrinth Day, the Community Labyrinth Coalition invites everyone to walk the labyrinth at the Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew, joining with others around the world who will be walking a labyrinth to focus on world peace on May 1, at 1 p.m. in their time zone.
“If each of us walks at 1 p.m. in our various zones, it will be a rolling wave of energy that blesses the world,” the coalition writes in a press release. “Our community labyrinth would love to be part of this worldwide movement.”
The labyrinth is located on the side lawn of the church at 8 Church St.
