From the beginning of time, the Earth has supported all who lived on it, and that is still true today. Everything we have in our lives comes from the Earth, the sky and much hard work on the part of many beings. It is an intimate relationship that is directly felt by those who plant, harvest, mine, transport and care. Many of us do not have the same direct relationship but we are still connected in many ways. Think of how we all participate recreationally in celebrating Earth’s gifts now that the weather is warming: hiking in the woods, taking in life-saving oxygen from her trees, paddling on and swimming in her rivers, playing on her fields and gardening in our yards. The impact of the COVID-19 virus is teaching us how completely dependent we are on each other and on the Earth and her resources for our well being and health.

Earth Day invites us to take a moment to recognize that dependency and our stewardship of the Earth in ways we might not usually notice or practice. The Community Labyrinth Coalition of local members and organizations who have created a public labyrinth at the Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew Church on Federal Street in Greenfield invites you to walk the labyrinth at your ease and pleasure, giving you a chance to pause and honor our home and our Mother who provides for us in so many ways. Come walk, keeping social distance with others, and offer thanks for the blessings of this beloved Earth. For more into contact: communitylabyrinthfc@gmail.com
