Joe Judd must have known that he’d be hearing from me again after his (April 1) column [‘On the Ridge: Let’s remember what’s important right now’]!
Just before I went to bed last night I decided to scan the New York Times instead of my usual book. Big mistake. They reported a horrific trend across the country In hospitals and medical centers against doctors and nurses who speak up about their extremely difficult working conditions or bring in their own safer protective equipment. They’re being fired or sent home. Needless to say sleep was elusive.
So I get up in the morning immediately thinking about the doctors and nurses, in a horrible mood, only to be greeted with, “You’re in the paper, you’re in the paper!”
Thank you for brightening my morning and giving me my moment of fame! My name in the paper and fortunately it wasn’t my obituary!
And thank you for writing about our medical heroes who are risking their lives for us. There was a small but powerful editorial letter from a local doctor who is the president of the Franklin area medical association telling us that that best was for us to show our appreciation for their work is to practice social distancing and follow the CDC guidelines.
It should have been on the front page.
And lastly, a tiny bit of whining is OK, I think. Although we are very privileged if we have enough food, a warm place to live, and our health, we are all experiencing so many small losses that make our lives so enjoyable.
Thanks again.
