BERNARDSTON — Because the Senior Center has canceled all activities and programs due to the COVID-19 outbreak, officers with the Bernardston Police Department have offered to help maintain a social connection with the town’s senior citizens. Officers will be conducting wellness-check phone calls over the next several weeks.
At no time will they be asking for personal information, such as Social Security numbers or Medicare identification. If a resident receives a call from an unknown number and the caller asks for this information, the Police Department advises to simply hang up the phone.
Call the Senior Center at 413-648-5413 or the Police Department at 413-648-9208 with questions or concerns.
BERNARDSTON — The Selectboard recently approved an entertainment license for the Crumpin-Fox Club, allowing the venue to host bands and other events.
While Crumpin-Fox has held events in past, the Selectboard said it had been doing so without an entertainment license from the town.
Last month, for example, Crumpin-Fox held its first Winter Carnival, which featured live music and fireworks. Selectboard members said the venue had not notified the Bernardston Police Department or the Selectboard’s office of the Winter Carnival ahead of time.
While there were no problems as a result of the carnival or past events, Selectboard Chair Robert Raymond emphasized the need for future communication to maintain and ensure public safety.
WARWICK — The Selectboard approved a four-measure Green Communities grant application for submission on Monday. The deadline to apply is May 1.
The application highlights goals for projects at Warwick Community School, including upgrading the indoor lighting and installing LED streetlights.
