Pre-Season Conditioning: For student athletes ages 13 and up. Through March 24. Conditioning for spring sports. Participants will gain access to the weight room with weekly afternoon training appointments offered, unlimited cardio machines and Sunday small group training classes. There will also be two nutrition talks for athletes and private cycle classes. Register at the Welcome Center. Free for members, $50 for non-members. Meditation: This class is to help individuals get in touch with the source of their existence and create life according to their own wishes and visions. Daily practice of meditation brings health, dynamism, peace and well-being. It is a powerful tool to cope with the hectic pace of modern life. Pre-Season Golf Preparation: Shane Foster will help you use the tools in your toolbox to get ready for the upcoming golf season. This class will provide golfers with balance and stretch techniques, core stability and movement prep. Participants will leave with enhanced knowledge of the fundamentals of golf and the necessary skills for optimum performance. Participants will receive two free rounds at the Northfield Golf Club. Thursdays, March 19 through April 16, 6:35 to 7:20 p.m. YMCA and Northfield Golf Club members, $50; non-members, $75.
Livestrong: A free 12-week fitness and wellness program for cancer survivors that focuses on building muscle mass and strength, increasing flexibility and endurance, and improving confidence, self-esteem and well-being. Adult Climbing: The class will focus on basic climbing skills including safety, risk management, movement efficiency and technique. The class will cover top roping and, weather permitting, spend the final day outside climbing. Maximum of 15 participants. Tuesdays, March 3 to April 21, 10 to 11:15 a.m. in the YMCA gym. Gold members, $56; silver members, $64; program associates, $76.
Red Cross Lifeguard Training: Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies. Detailed training includes both testing of hands-on skills as well as comprehension on written tests. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide. Must attend all classes.
