Makai Mason and his Alba Berlin teammates had quite a weekend.

The German basketball club collected its 10th MagentaSport BBL Cup title, defeating EWE Baskets Oldenburg, 89-67, in the title game on Sunday before a crowd of 14,614 fans inside Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin.

The Greenfield native did not play in Sunday’s final, though he did help the club along the way throughout the tournament that takes place during the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) season. The 16-team, single-elimination tournament saw the club win three of their four games by double figures.

In the semifinal win over Brose Bamberg on Jan. 12, Mason played 10 minutes and dished out an assist in Alba Berlin’s 82-66 victory. He also played seven minutes in an 82-77 win over Mitteldeutscher BC in the quarterfinal round on Dec. 15.

Five players scored in double figures for Alba Berlin in the title-game victory, including former Louisville standout point guard Peyton Siva, who totaled 12.

Next up for the 24-year-old Mason, who is averaging 3.9 points per game this season, and his team is a EuroLeague away game against Zenit St. Petersburg in Russia on Thursday.
