GREENFIELD — Local gardeners, farmers or people looking to plant for the first time can grow their network and their collection at the 13th annual “Cabin Fever Seed Swap” on Sunday at the Franklin Community Co-op’s 170 Main St. event space.

The event, to be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m., is casual, drop-in style, free and open to all.

The event’s organizer, Melinda McCreven, of Greenfield, said she started the seed swap because she wanted to go to one but couldn’t find one locally. She said the seed swap gives people an opportunity to grow more or different plants than they have in the past and exchange knowledge.

“It’s fun to come to check out the variety of seeds because no seed swap is the same, and exchange ideas and energy with other people,” McCreven said. “Local non-profits have come in the past to talk about the projects they’re working on.”

People are welcome to bring seeds saved from homegrown plants and leftover store-bought seed packets. Beginners are encouraged to ask questions and learn more about saving seeds.

There will be free seed giveaways as well, thanks in part to donations from the Greenfield Farmer’s Cooperative Exchange, and High Mowing Organic Seeds of Vermont.
