WARWICK — Fifteen years in, the annual Wooden Fender concert series is still going strong and will continue this weekend with pizza and a performance from The Barrett Anderson Band.
Saturday’s concert, held at Warwick Town Hall, is sponsored by the Trinitarian Congregational Church and will feature a “Pizzapalooza Supper.” Dinner starts at 6 p.m., and the concert kicks off at 7.
“Maybe you know Barrie Anderson as the really sweet guy who worked for many years at the Petersham Country Store,” said Laurette Crane, a member of the Warwick Arts Council, which oversees the Wooden Fender series. “Or maybe you know him as the supremely talented administrative director of NOFA, the Northeast Organic Farming Association. But Wooden Fender wants you to know him as the phenomenal blues guitarist and winner of the 2013 Boston Music Awards’ Blues Artist of the Year.”
Playing with Anderson on Saturday will be Charlie Mallett on guitar, Doug MacLeod on drums and Jamie “Black Cat Bone” Hatch on bass.
Guests are invited to arrive ahead of the concert for homemade pizza. Pizza toppings include mushrooms, pepperoni, homemade pesto and roasted red peppers, along with a variety of cheeses. Gluten free crust options will be available, as well. A “meal deal” of two slices with toppings, side salad, a drink and dessert costs $10.
“All pizza dinner proceeds support the mission projects of the Trinitarian Congregational Church of Warwick,” Crane said. “Every dollar is donated to local and worldwide charities. These folks do great work.”
For the concert, there is a suggested donation of $5, which supports the Wooden Fender series. Upcoming concerts feature The Green Sisters on March 21, preceded by a St. Patrick’s Day dinner, and No Lens on April 18, preceded by a “Rasta Pasta Lasagna Dinner.”
