Theodor Popusoi, Crescens Iavorschi and Liviu Mihailicenco powered the Greenfield High School boys indoor track & field team to two team victories in PVIAC competition at Smith College in Northampton on Friday night. 

The Wave defeated Ludlow, 64-31, and Pope Francis 64-31, in the final regular-season meet of the season. The PVIAC Championship is Friday at 6 p.m.

Iavorschi was an overall winner in the 55-meter dash (6.72) while Popusoi took the honors in the 600-meter run (1:34.54).

Mihailicenco placed first in the 55-meter hurdles (8.35) with Popusoi coming in second place (8.59)

Mihailicenco performed well in the jumping events, grabbing a second-place finish in the high jump (6-1) and a fifth in the long jump (18-2). Popusoi took third in the long jump (20-2½).

Jake Cote took seventh (37-4¾) in the shot put, with Andy Bostrom adding a sixth-place finish in the mile (5:07) for Greenfield. Bostrom also placed seventh in the 1,000 (3:04), and Erick Badillo was sixth in the two-mile (11:30).

Mohawk Trail 54, Sci-Tech 12
Ludlow 58, Mohawk 31 –
Dennis Simmons blazed through the fields in the 1000-meter run, placing first overall for the Warriors (2:53).

Simmons took second overall in the mile (4:48)

Cullen Brown was third in the 300-meter, 13th in the long jump and eighth in the 55-meter dash for Mohawk (38.19).

Hampshire 60, Athol 35
Athol 69, Pioneer 23 –
Keegan Lutz had an eighth-place finish (40.79) for the Red Raiders in a split against Hampshire and Pioneer.

Anthony Marcucci was third in the field in the mile (4:58) and 17th in the 1,000 (3:06).

Hampshire 73, Mahar 21
South Hadley 75, Mahar 19 –
The Senators received a strong performance from Liam O’Donnell but got swept by the Raiders and the Tigers. 

 O’Donnell was sixth in the 1000 (2:53), tied for 10th in the high jump (5-8) and 14th in the long jump (17-5.5).

Athol 69, Pioneer 23 – The Panthers lost to the Red Raiders their lone meet of the evening. 

Noah deRuiter performed well in distance events, placing 11th in the mile (5:29) and sixth in the (11:22) in the two-mile.

Girls track & field 

Ludlow 56, Greenfield 39
Pope Francis 59, Greenfield 35 –
Victoria Marin excelled individually in a pair of team losses for the Green Wave.

Marin was first overall in the 55-meter hurdles (9.19).

Marin took third in the 55-meter (7.81) and the high jump (4-7) along with a fourth-place finish in the long jump (15-3¼).

Emma Savoy ran to a fifth-place finish for the Wave in the 1,000 (3:45).

Kacia Kinsmith took sixth in the 55-meter hurdles (10.25).

Hampshire 48, Athol 27
Pioneer 45, Athol 39 –
Grace Dufour took sixth in the 300-meter dash (46.54) for the Red Raiders. 

Dufour added a fifth-place finish in the long jump (14-11) and a 12th-place finish in the 55-meter dash (8.20).

Rashelly Dalmau-Gonzalez threw to a seventh-place finish in the shot put (26-7¾).

Ludlow 67, Mohawk 28
Mohawk 77, Sci-Tech 9 –
Erika Szewczyk and Serena Bardwell paced the Warriors in a split with the Lions and the Cybercats.

Bardwell was seventh in the 55-meter dash (8.19) and third in the 300 (47.05).

Szewczyk (3:34) placed second in the 1,000 and fourth in the mile (6:00).

Pioneer 45, Athol 39 – The Panthers picked up a win over the Red Raiders behind a seventh-place finish by Samantha Baldwin in the mile (6:18).

Teammate Sahana Heilman took ninth (6:31) in the same event.

Laila Heilman was 13th in the high jump for the Panthers (4-5).

South Hadley 66, Mahar 20 –
Caroline Chase’s fifth-place finish (1:53) in the 600 highlighted the Senators’ night.

Madison Harrington took fifth in the shot put (27-3) with Gracie Rich adding a 10th place finish in the long jump (14-2½).
