GREENFIELD — Older adults and caregivers concerned about protecting themselves from financial risks like fraud and scams are encouraged to attend LifePath’s Community Learning Session on Wednesday.

The free event will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at LifePath’s offices within the Greenfield Corporate Center at 101 Munson St.

According to a LifePath press release, the talk, called “Avoiding Fraud in the New Year,” will feature two speakers. LifePath’s Regional Director of Elder Protective Services Dean Lagrotteria will explain what financial exploitation is, how to avoid it and how to report it when you suspect it. Additionally, Anita Wilson, consumer protection case coordinator with the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, will explain how to recognize the tricks scammers use to steal your money or your personal information.

Light refreshments will be served. Registration is not required, and transportation may be available upon request.
