NORTHFIELD — In honor of her years of service, a retirement reception will be held for outgoing Senior Center Director Heather Tower. The reception will be held at Cameron’s Winery on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The event is open to adults ages 21 and over. Refreshments will be served and wine will be available for purchase. No outside food or drinks will be permitted.
NORTHFIELD — The Pioneer Valley Regional School District is seeking input from parents, students and faculty members within its four member towns regarding potentially moving sixth-grade classes to Pioneer.
There will be two public hearings at Pioneer on Thursday, Jan. 30. One for faculty and staff members will be at 4 p.m. and one for the public will follow at 6:30 p.m.
The forums will discuss the potential financial, curricular, extracurricular and social benefits or drawbacks of moving the sixth-grade classes.
LEYDEN — Open burn season in town has begun, and will continue through May 1.

BERNARDSTON — Food safety training led by Health Agent Randy Crochier will be offered at the Bernardston Vets Club, 16 Hartwell St. on Friday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost to register is $75, and residents and food service employees in Bernardston, Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Deerfield, Erving, Gill, Hawley, Heath, Leyden, Monroe, Rowe and Shelburne are welcome to attend. Registration is limited to 32 participants.
