The Pioneer Valley Regional School sports boosters will host their third annual “Rock The House” night on Wednesday in Northfield.
The Pioneer girls basketball team kicks off the event when the Panthers host Drury High School at 5:30 p.m. The Panthers’ boys team follows with another game against the Blue Devils.
AMS edges Mahar
Jenna Bonenfant poured in a game-high 17 points, and the Athol Middle School girls basketball team snuck past Mahar, 37-36, in action played Monday.
It was a back and forth game, with both teams exchanging leads. Athol trailed 21-19 at halftime, but overcame foul trouble down the stretch to secure the win.
Lizzy Mailloux tossed in six points for Athol, with Kylah Blundon and Anna Duquette scoring four apiece.
Mahar’s Alivia Patch paced her team with 13 points, and Cassidy Boutell registered nine points.
Greenfield Recreation
Department
Basketball games tipped off at Greenfield Middle School on Saturday.
In the early 5th and 6th grade contest, Bernardston defeated the Greenfield Raptors, 37-7.
In 3rd and 4th grade action, the Greenfield Timberwolves took down Montague, 34-16. In the final game of the morning, Hinsdale No. 2 knocked off Greenfield Lynx Coed, 40-9.
The youth basketball league resumes on Jan. 18 at Greenfield Middle School.
Suburban League
Jonathan Breor scored 21 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead Greenfield past South Hadley, 66-34, in a Suburban League grades 7 and 8 boys basketball game on Saturday at Greenfield High School.
Caleb Thomas had nine points in the win while Jerry Ven and Hugh Cyhowski each had eight points and Jackson Campbell and Nico Fasulo both scored five points.
■ Elsewhere, Brandon Truesdell poured in 25 points to help Turners Falls sponsored by St. Stanislaus Society in an 82-65 loss to Ludlow in a grades 7 and 8 contest in the Powertown on Saturday.
Josiah Little joined Truesdell in double figures with 14 points, while Oliver Postera tossed in 12 points on four 3-pointers. Joey Mosca added eight points, draining a pair of 3-pointers.
FCHA
FCHA Pee Wee Green split a pair of games over the weekend.
On Saturday at Smead Arena in Springfield, FCHA lost to Ludlow, 4-2. Matt Garvin scored for FCHA along with Sean Baumann, assisted by Shawn Beckwith. Jay McGinnis made 37 saves.
FCHA bounced back on Sunday with a 10-2 win over Westfield Black at Collins-Moylan.
Garvin scored the first seven goals of the game to fuel the rout. Anson Prunier, Luca Siano and Cooper Smith each netted a goal. Cade Allenby had three assists with Gigi Grima adding another for FCHA. McGinnis stopped 20 shots in net.
