I am 91 years old and crippled so it is difficult for me to walk and accordingly tried to contact FRTA to schedule a ride to buy some groceries. I am old but still alive and need to eat if I am going to stay that way.

I called FRTA and promptly received an automatic voice message which directed me to select a number for another office, did that to receive another voice message. That gave me another number to push where I obtained yet another voice message after which it hung up on me. Three times I tried and failed. Only once did I talk with a live person who immediately shunted me off to a machine voice.

Is this the kind of service you are happy with and willing to accept? I have written a letter to the DOT who oversees FRTA and a letter to the governor who oversees the DOT. Please for those people who feel they have received poor service from FRTA, send me a post card with with just their name: 81 Barton Road, Greenfield MA 01301. I will contact the governor’s office with this information in an attempt to get us the service we deserve.

Since the FRTA runs on tax money received from the state I suggest the seniors let the state know that they will consider placing their tax money in escrow until they receive the service from FRTA that they deserve. In short either shape up or ship out.
