Wouter Hoogkamer and Meghan Davis kicked off their 2020s in fine fashion on Wednesday.
Hoogkamer, of Pelham, was the overall winner of the Sawmill River 10K Run, while Plainfield’s Davis took top honors in the women’s division during the annual race held every Jan. 1 in Montague Center.
A pack of 147 runners completed the 10K course on Wednesday. Hoogkamer’s time of 34 minutes, 12.43 seconds, set the pace. Davis won the women’s race in 39:54.46.
Heath’s Will Draxler was the male youth division winner (37:27), while Davis won the open division (ages 18-39) on the women’s side and Hoogkamer won on the men’s side.
Greenfield’s Laure Raffensperger was the female Master Division (ages 40-49) winner in 44:01, and Millers Falls’ Daniel Grip won on the men’s side (35:39).
Amherst’s Vikki Lenhart (44:49) and Nat Larson (35:43) were Senior Division (ages 50-59) winners, and Chicopee’s Debra Hevey (51:23) and Andy MacDonald of Amherst (42:17) were Senior-Plus Division (ages 60 and up) winners.
Proceeds from the event benefit MPRD’s Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program.
