Our Lady of Peace Church mitten challenge yields 350 pairs

TURNERS FALLS — Pastoral Minister Marguerite Noga of Our Lady of Peace Church reports, “Our Advent/Christmas challenge to our parishioners was to bring in 200 pairs of gloves and/or mittens for children and adults. We called the challenge ‘Mittens for Mary’s Children’ and to our delight the families of our church outdid themselves this year by donating 350 pairs. These will be given the Montague Catholic Social Ministries, The ARC, and the Head Start program here in Turners Falls.”

Jan. 5: Panopera at Mary Lyon Church

BUCKLAND — The Mary Lyon Church on Upper Street in Buckland will host Panopera, an artist-led opera company based in Western Massachusetts on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. This is a “pass the hat” fundraiser for the stained glass window restoration project. Local soprano, Shelley Roberts and friends accompanied by Pamela Gilmore will be performing a wide variety of musical numbers and arias. Panopera has the best local talent and resources, cultivating a large and diverse audience.
