The Sawmill Run is scheduled for New Year’s Day in Montague Center. The road race will begin promptly at 10 a.m. near the Village Common on Main Street.  Race Day registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Montague Common Hall at 34 Main St. in Montague. 

Division include: youth, (U-17), open (18-39), master (40-49), senior (50-59) and senior plus (60+).

Entry fees are $30 before noon on New Year’s Eve and $35 after that and on race day. 

Refreshments will be available. This event benefits MPRD’s Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program. The race is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event. Online registration available   www.runreg.com/sawmill-river-10k-run, or log onto  www.montague.net.

Free Throw Contest

Montague Elks Hoops Shoot

The Montague Elks Club will be holding its annual free throw shooting contest on Saturday, Jan. 4  at the Turners Falls High School Gymnasium.

 Registration will start at 9:30 a.m. and the shoot will begin at 10. The contest is free and open to all boys and girls between 8-13 as of April 1, 2020.

Shelburne Bowling Alley

Rachel Dodge dominated the Thursday Night League at the Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley, rolling the women’s high single score of 115 and the women’s high triple score of 316. 

Matt Gilbert rolled the men’s high single score on Thursday of 123 while Josh Slysz’ 341 was the men’s high triple score. 

Marilyn Wilson swept the women’s side of the Monday Night League, rolling a single high score of 131 and a triple high score of 326. 

Jimmy Herzig (115) rolled the men’s single high score and Rob Muzzy (300) finished with the men’s high triple score.
