The Athol-Royalston Middle School boys basketball team came into Wednesday’s game against Narragansett with the mindset of protecting its home floor and the team did just that, jumping out to a 24-5 halftime lead en route to a 36-18 win. 

Colby Goodwin led the way with 10 points, Angel Castillo had nine points and Ben Kearney added five points. Ethan Bacigalupo and Caleb Leblanc each had three points and Logan Cormier, Connor Cox and Eli Wein all had two points.

■ In the girls game, Athol rode Anna Duquette’s eight points to capture a 26-21 win over Narragansett on Wednesday.

Athol led 15-10 at halftime. Kylah Blundon added five points while Jenna Bonenfant and Lizzy Mailloux scored four points apiece.

FCHA Pee Wees

Matt Garvin scored two goals and Cooper Smith also tallied as the FCHA Pee Wee Green hockey team participated in the Lake Placid Miracle on Ice Hockey Tournament over the weekend.

Jay McGinnis stopped 75 shots over four games in goal for FCHA.

Deerfield results

The Deerfield Academy boys and girls swim teams swept Minnechaug on Wednesday. The boys won 104-81 while the girls scored a 96-90 victory.

The boys basketball team fell on the road at Pomfret, 54-41.
