I’m trying to remember what respecting the office of the president was like under Bush, Clinton and Obama. I find it near impossible, given the truly infantile, sick person who inhabits the White House today. Unlike Nancy Pelosi, I cannot pray every day for Trump.

I am revolted by Trump’s attacks on 16-year-old Greta Thunberg for being named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year.” “So ridiculous,” Trump said on Twitter. “Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!”

Anger management problem? The president and his spineless supporters need anger management group therapy.

Trump, who was named “Person of the Year” after winning the 2016 presidential election (via the Electoral College), has criticized Time Magazine before for passing him up in the years since. Duh?

This is driving Trump’s narcissistic self (the only self he has) nuts. Time’s decision was based on the fact that in the 16 months since she skipped school and camped in front of the Swedish Parliament holding a sign that read Sklostrejk for klimatet: “School Strike for Climate,” Thunberg inspired 4 million people to join the global climate strike last fall, the largest climate demonstration in human history. She has also addressed heads of state at the U.N., met with the Pope . . . and sparred with Trump.

Thunberg responded to Trump’s latest tweet swiftly on Twitter saying: “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”

Greta inspired young people across the globe regardless of political affiliation. Conservative youth leaders in the United States just launched a nationwide campaign to promote a carbon tax to combat global warming, defying the Republican Party and opposition to climate measures by climate denier Donald Trump.
