Good morning and Welcome to Bobby’s World. Today, there’s a wonderful opportunity for you to give back by bringing a gift card to Cleary Jewelers on Main Street in Greenfield for a fundraiser to benefit True Christmas, a local charity helping needy children so they can have a wonderful holiday. This event is this afternoon from noon to 2 p.m. with Santa Claus.

Today is also “A Special Day in Northfield,” where there’s a full day of activities planned as well as shopping in downtown Northfield. Shelby Snow, the owner of the Northfield Golf Club, told me they will have a bonfire open to the public from 4. to 7 p.m. with music, food and drinks available. Bring the whole family for this wonderful day in Northfield.

I want to say thank you to everyone who donated to make our third annual TRIAD Hams for Seniors fundraiser the biggest success we’ve had so far. We will be giving out 100 Christmas hams to our local seniors. Our community is truly amazing. Ray Zukowski and the staff at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, which facilitates the Triad, do an amazing job and we are very lucky to have them in our community. Thank you, everyone, for the support.

Our local Salvation Army is still looking for bell ringers to volunteer from now through Christmas Eve. Contact Captain Peabody by contacting the Salvation Army on Chapman Street in Greenfield. This is a perfect way to do some community service as an individual, family or with an organization.

The best streets for Christmas lights

If you’re looking for places to see festive holiday lights this season, I’ve found a few areas that are particularly bright: Montague Street in Turners Falls; Griswold Street in Turners Falls; and Maple Street in Greenfield. Know of any other places that I haven’t listed? Email me at bobbyleslie25@gmail.com.

I am very excited about being able to entertain our seniors with a trip to The Farren Care Center Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. I will be at the Bernardston Senior Center on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

I want to congratulate the Leverett Police Department on a wonderful job raising $1,150 for the No Shave For Home Base fundraiser. Officers Scott Minckler, Tim Batchelder and Jeff Belanger grew beards to raise money for veterans. Overall, the fundraiser raised over $300,000. Great job, guys.

Last weekend, the Bernardston Police and Fire departments held their annual Fill the Cruiser fundraiser to help needy children in our community. I was very impressed with how many people stopped by to make a difference this holiday season. Also last week, the Bernardston Kiwanis Club held its annual free pancake breakfast.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that the Oak Ridge Detachment Marine Corps League will hold its December holiday breakfast Sunday morning from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Bernardston Veterans Club on Hartwell Street in Bernardston. If you bring a toy for a needy child, your breakfast will be free.

Let’s pack the veterans club Sunday and don’t forget to bring a gift so you can make many children smile this Christmas.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend.
