On Saturday at 3 p.m. at Greenfield High School Auditorium, Greenfield’s Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, Chorus and Youth Orchestra will host its annual family-friendly Holiday Pops concert.

In its 81st season, the symphony is the second oldest community orchestra in the nation. This Friday’s concert will feature both new compositions and old favorites. The orchestra will perform a holiday program featuring selections from Randall Thompson’s “Frostiana,” a song cycle inspired by the poems of Robert Frost and commissioned for the town of Amherst in 1959.

The concert will also feature a sing-along of traditional holiday favorites, fun activities for the kids other holiday-themed activities including a chance for an audience member to step into the spotlight and conduct live from the symphony stage. A fundraising raffle will be held to select the winner of this unique opportunity.
