On behalf of the Mary Lyon Foundation Board of Trustees, volunteers and staff, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in the community who supported our 14th annual Community Spelling Bee. An unbelievable $10,000 was raised for local education, a goal we attained a year earlier than anticipated! This unique event brings together all segments of the community — individuals, businesses, private and public schools, non-profits, civic organizations, local government and our senior center, all working together to support excellence in local education.
Our two Queen Bee sponsors, Greenfield Savings Bank and Clark’s Corvair, along with 35 other generous businesses sponsored 30 teams of intrepid spellers. Grand Champions were the Boardvarks from the Academy at Charlemont, but everyone was a winner. Over 100 additional businesses and individuals donated incredible raffle and silent auction prizes. It was a night of fun and friendly competition. The Mary Lyon Foundation greatly appreciates the overwhelming community support for this event.
