Kidleidoscope Fridays: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays. Come each week to learn about our wildlife neighbors who share our home in the Connecticut River Watershed. Kidleidoscope is a free child-friendly, hands-on environmental experience for young children. Art Exhibit: Junior Duck Stamps — Connecting Youth with Nature Through Science and Art: Through Dec. 22. Young students from kindergarten to high school submit artwork for a statewide art contest. In the process, they gain awareness of the importance of preserving wetland habitats and the delights of wildlife. Come to Great Falls Discovery Center to see the top Massachusetts youth entries for the 2019 Junior Duck Stamp competition.

Go Green on Black Friday: Friday, Nov. 29, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the front entrance. Would you rather connect with nature and local history than compete with the Black Friday shopping crowds? Then come for a leisurely walk along the Canalside Rail Trail in Turners Falls. This walk is approximately 3 miles long on a level paved surface making for an easy stroll appropriate for adults and children ages 8 and up. Be prepared for cold weather, dress in layers. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. The walk will begin at the front entrance to the Great Falls Discovery Center. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Girls into the Wild: Thursdays, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Sept.12 to Dec. 19 (no program Oct. 31 or Nov. 28). Sometimes, girls just need to run, explore and play outdoors. Girls into the Wild is designed to get girls outside, playing and engaging with nature in their own way. Instructor Katie Koerten will offer games and activities that each girl can participate in at her own comfort level. Families provide their own transportation to the Hitchcock Center for the Environment. Members: $355. Non-members: $426. Ages 8 to 11, grades three to five.

Mohawk Trail State Forest

Kidleidoscope in Charlemont: The popular children’s program, Kidleidoscope, comes to Mohawk Trail State Park. Children ages 2 to 6 are invited to join these fun and engaging activity sessions where they will learn about nature through stories, crafts and outdoor activities. Activities are designed to help inspire children to respect nature and adopt caring mannerisms when dealing with plants and animals of all sizes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
