If you see a helicopter flying above Franklin County over the next few days, don’t be alarmed, because Eversource is simply doing aerial inspections of its high-voltage electrical equipment.
The inspections, which are done semiannually, began Friday and will continue through Tuesday, weather permitting. Flights will happen between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The helicopter is blue and silver, with a tail number of N1431W, according to an Eversource press release. It will fly over the utility company’s rights-of-way in Ashfield, Conway, Deerfield, Erving, Greenfield, Leverett, Montague, Northfield, Shelburne, Sunderland, Shutesbury and Warwick to check for emerging vegetation or equipment issues that may threaten electric reliability.
