Fellow voters, the library proposal would mean borrowing millions to build a new fire station because the plan requires the additional land. The capital loan will be paid off soon. The town plans to re-borrow the millions of dollars for the proposed library complex and to build a new fire station.
Perhaps the library can be moved to the Armory on Hope Street, which is slated to be available soon. The Armory is conveniently located near the new parking garage. If we can avoid borrowing the funds needed for the proposed plan, real estate taxes could potentially be reduced by an estimated $200 for the average home/property owner.
Why not utilize what we currently have for viable and more cost-effective options? Everyone wants a win-win situation. Please stop and think about this before you vote yes for a new library. Thank you.
