As mayor, Brickett Allis, will make himself available to address the “needs” of this community and its citizens, like he has done for the past 19 years serving Greenfield as town and city councilor. Whenever we have contacted him, he has responded in a timely manner with the information needed. Brickett understands that young families and the older and retired population have limited budgets that can only go so far, making “needs” more important than “wants”. This also, applies to what we can afford when we look at the city budget.
Brickett has ideas to generate new revenue for Greenfield with his creative plans, such as:
Changing fines generated by Massachusetts uniform citations, where only 50 percent of the revenue remains in Greenfield, to use of city ordinance tickets by the police department, where 100 percent remains in Greenfield. By implementing this change, the same level of enforcement would double our revenue and help fund necessary vacant positions.
Opening the transfer station to commercial disposal of household and construction demolition materials is another way to subsidize our recycling system and trash disposal and generate revenue. This would, also, offer residents extended hours of operation.
Expanding the Fire Department EMS service by using a comprehensive and collaborative process, sounds like a unique and innovative idea. This expansion would generate revenue in which only half would be needed to fund staff, new equipment and EMD training for dispatch personnel. This would be at no cost to taxpayers, the rest going to the city budget!
His common sense, knowledge, understanding and experience of the workings of city government and the challenges it brings gives him the edge over other candidates beginning Day 1!
On Nov. 5, please write in Brickett Allis, 300 Wells St., and fill in the corresponding bubble.
